The Beginning Years

The decision to have a family is one of the most important decisions we will ever make. Having a child is a 24-hour-a-day commitment filled with joy and exhaustion, love and hard work. From the moment we see our baby’s face, our lives are changed forever. We have been given a wonderful gift and an awesome responsibility.
Children need our love and attention to develop their intelligence, confidence and character. As our children grow and change during these early years, we will be learning and changing with them.
Right from the beginning, we will have to make choices about pregnancy, birth and ways to support our child’s development. This chapter offers us guidance.
Being a parent is an exciting journey. Not only can we be our child’s best teacher, but our child teaches us as well.
